Material and Finishes

This module will first introduce a rangeof standard materials available in the industry and lead to an understanding of the nature of materials, its properties, its visual qualities, its impact to the environment, its reaction to different finishes, its applications, use and care with a given emphasis on designer selection and specification.

INTERIOR FINISHES & DETAILING

Explore and identify interior materials in the industry such as Metal, Synthetic Materials, Glass, Timber, Stone, Brick, Ceramic, Concrete and Plaster; furthermore in creativity and intelligently use termination of the materials as building materials in interior detailing.

INTEGRATED FINAL PROJECT

The project aims to encourage students’ creativity and implementation of intelligently used combination of MATERIALS in interior detailing and reinforce the understanding on the construction method, joinery and suitability of material use.
